NEC Resort World | Birmingham

Hotel and Retail Complex

Resort world is a new hotel built above a shopping and cinema complex at the NEC Birmingham. The three storey hotel was built above the new podium structure. A Metsec Met-Frame structure was used for the hotel. The floors were a mixture of Metsec joists to reduce the loadings, together with concrete floors to achieve the acoustic performance and loadings imposed.

Both main contractor and Atkin Trade Specialists worked closely together, to achieve the programme. As there was minimal storage available, all deliveries required careful planning with site. The construction process was a logistical challenge. Delivering the project on time, tested our experience and organisational skills. We not only delivered on time, but to a high quality and accuracy level. This ensured that all the other sub contractors could work in synergy with the Metsec frame. The frame was built using only 12 skilled operatives that worked as a team, alongside the main contractor. Due to the close working relationship with the site team, a high standard of finish was achieved.
